OilTracers LLC exhibited at the 2nd North African/Mediterranean
Petroleum & Geosciences Conference and Exhibition, April 10th
to 13th 2005 in Algiers, Algeria. A key element of the Exhibit was
OilTracers demonstration of the latest version (v. 3.0f) of the
OilUnmixer TM software that OilTracers has developed for performing
geochemical allocation of commingled production. The latest version
of OilUnmixer TM includes features such as:
- The ability to allocate production with or without the use of
end members calibration oils.
- The ability to "visualize" the quality of the calculated
allocation result by viewing a graphical comparison of a
mathematical construct of the predicted oil vs the actual observed
oil.
- A numerical measure of "quality of fit" of the predicted
allocation solution to the observed oil.
- A statistical "% Confidence" number associated with the
allocation solution.
- The ability to automatically "look" for contamination in the
end member calibration oils (based on automatically searching for
peaks that lie statistically too far away from the allocation
solution implied by the overall oil fingerprint), and then
automatically deleting those contamination peaks, and then
automatically iterating a solution until it converges on a stable
answer. This ability to use "non ideal" end members is particularly
useful.
OilTracers LLC will next be exhibiting June 19-22 at the AAPG
Annual Convention in Calgary, Canada. We invite you to stop by our
booth and meet the OilTracers scientists.
About OilTracers
OilTracers is a petroleum consulting company that specializes in
integration of geochemical, geological, and engineering data to
solve various petroleum exploration, development, and production
problems. In addition, OilTracers owns and operates the two premier
petroleum geochemistry web sites (www.oiltracers.com and
www.gaschem.com) The databases on these web sites, such as OilRef
(a database of >14,000 petroleum geochemistry citations), the
Oil Sample Library (a listing of >33,500 oil geological samples
owned by various laboratories), and the Petroleum Geochemistry
Dictionary provide answers to more than 5,000 inquiries a month.
OilTracers is organized very much like a law firm, with our various
scientists having complementary areas of expertise. OilTracers is
not a laboratory. We do no analyses. We only interpret data. All
oil analyses are contracted to one of several laboratories we use
around the world. These laboratories then transfer the data
electronically to OilTracers for interpretation.
