Other Oil and Natural Gas Databases

This page provides links to certain other on-line, oil-industry-related databases.

  • Gulf of Mexico Databases from the Minerals Management Service This link leads to several Gulf of Mexico MMS databases. One contains nearly 170,000 Gulf of Mexico well logs from 1995 and before. Users can sort wells by lease, well name, or API number. Users then can add well logs to a shopping cart and order them. The MMS charges $15 to create and ship a CD-ROM of data.
  • USGS Organic Geochemistry Database This database contains analytical data for over 60,000 crude oil, natural gas and rock samples. The data are from (1) samples analyzed by the USGS and contracted laboratories, and (2) the literature and unpublished public domain sources.
  • Michigan Basin Databases from the Petroleum Technology Transfer Council (PTTC) This link leads to a listing of numerous PTTC Michigan basin databases, including a searchable on-line listing of Michigan oil and gas wells and fields, as well as links to databases that contain bottom hole pressure data, production testing data, collections of mud logs, collections of Michigan basin maps, a listing of oil and gas well permits, Michigan basin core collections, a listing of oil and gas well cuttings housed at Western Michigan University, a database of Antrim Shale wireline logs, a listing of Niagaran Reef cores, and a variety of other databases.
  • Deep South Louisiana wells (>12000 ft) Database showing mud weights and bottom hole temperatures from each log run. Data can be mapped to look for hot and cold spots associated with production. Database also contains mud weight data for ~ 34,000 offshore wells, and a subset of those data (12.5# mud or greater) has been mapped as top of "pressure". About 4,500 onshore velocity surveys, mostly on the Gulf Coast areas are also available. For more information contact Byron McNeil (mcneil9@swbell.net, Gulf Coast Veocity Data, Houston, TX).
  • Biostratigraphic "Paleo control" databases This link contains information on several databases of paleo control data. The data consists of interpreted ages from biozones and marker fossils as well as information on paleoenvironments and paleo water depth.
